Non-fashonable

Yuck!

For the last several days I've been sick with a cold. No bueno.

During this time however I was able to do a drawing. This particular drawing was inspired from a girl that I saw at the local art museum. It was funny at the time at first glance I noticed her socks with the boots then I thought that might be cute. However I looked at the entire package. Lordy! Disaster. There could of been more motive behind the over accessorizing, the extra long fake eyelashes, super long v-neck,  and man do I ever dislike the cave man Eskimo boots that are trendy. Recent surveys  indicate males have no fancy for that look either. After drawing this picture it actually the girl looks cuter than what she really looks like in real life. It's almost like what they say about Communism that it works better on paper than in all actuality. Here's that drawing I did today! Enjoy!

About the City I live in...

I live in a city called Reno. Located in the state of Nevada (don't worry bout how its pronounced either.) From my personal experience I mention where I live and people will have no idea, when you mention Nevada people assume its right down the street from Las Vegas or people will say oh man like that show Reno 911 (fun fact: Reno does not have palm trees).

A little historical background:
Around the time of the mining boom, Reno helped to connected Virginia City with California. Eventually in the 1930's gambling became legal and became America's gambling capitol until the late 1950's. Even was known for easy divorces.

Just in more recent years I was curious to see what Reno looked liked when it was glorious. SO I looked through the Internet, kinda snooped through books in the book store. Overall I find it rather depressing because at one time Reno, NV was this:

So glamorous it did indeed look, with all the people in the postcards dressed up to go the casinos to see the headline shows and to gamble and have a few cocktails.

But due to many bankruptcies and economic hardships, many of these casinos were demolished back in the late 90's and in more recent years much of the abandoned casinos were remodeled into condos.

So now if for some crazy reason you were ever to visit this place you'll see the many once casinos that are missing their sparkling lights and being replaced by some wandering drunk people and a few drugged up crackheads who play musical instruments for money.

Keep in mind its winter now, come summer time there's many special events and fun festivals that distract away from what Reno has transformed into today.

Behold!!!! For I am now Blogging!!!

Yikes!!!

I thought I'd never do this but here I am, weblogging!!!

Since it's the beginning of the year 2011 why not start on a positive note.
I came to the conclusion about people, friends and life and came to terms with the way things will always be and tra la la la la la.

One thing I'm really excited about is squid. Not only do I love to eat it but I plan to paint some too. So this year as I also hope with every year I do more art and complete more projects. But I hope this will help me keep track of my progress and share with the readers of this blog where I'm going.

So wish me luck on my new 2011 journey to through the imagination of the JRP.

Here's a quote I found that I felt could sprinkle the magic of motivation:

We will open the book.  Its pages are blank.  We are going to put words on them ourselves.  The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.  ~Edith Lovejoy Pierce
